Birth Balls

A birth ball is the perfect aid during every phase of your pregnancy. Use the ball as a sitting ball, as a fitness ball or for relaxation and comfort during childbirth. With a carrying weight of no less than 300 kg, our birth balls can handle anything.

What can you do with a birth ball?

A birth ball is extremely versatile and you can use it in different ways:

  • For a comfortable sitting position: A birth ball is ideal to sit on before, during and after your pregnancy. Because the ball stimulates a good, upright sitting posture, pelvic and back complaints can be reduced. In addition, sitting on a ball relaxes your pelvic floor muscles. The ball is also a nice alternative to an office chair.
  • As a fitness ball during your pregnancy: A birth ball helps you to continue training in a safe and comfortable way during your pregnancy. For example, you can use the ball for the wall squat, the child posture, the seated eight or for pelvic tilts. This way you gently train your abdomen, back and pelvis.
  • To support during birth: The use of a birth ball during childbirth has many advantages. You can read more about this below.
  • For postpartum exercises: After giving birth, a birthing ball can be used to rebuild your muscles.
  • To cradle your child: Because you can easily move back and forth on the ball, it is also a great tool to cradle your child during the maternity period.
  • As a toy: Of course, the ball is also an ideal toy for when your child is a bit bigger. Or do exercises on it with your toddler. For example, let your child sit or lie on the ball while you make gentle movements to promote coordination and balance.

The benefits of a birth ball during your delivery

As the name suggests, a birth ball is mainly used during childbirth. The use of a birth ball has many advantages:

  • The ball gives you a lot of freedom of movement . This way you can instinctively move to a position that feels comfortable for you and you make room for your baby in your pelvis.
  • The ball helps you relax . By hanging on the ball or by rocking back and forth while sitting, you can better absorb the contractions. This promotes dilation.
  • The ball can ensure a smoother birth . This is because you give birth vertically on a birth ball. This makes you more active, you have more control over the delivery, your pelvic entrance becomes larger and pushing is easier.

How do you determine the size of a birth ball?

Are you 1.55 - 1.65 meters? Then go for a birth ball of 55 cm
Are you 1.65 – 1.75 meters? Then go for a birth ball of 65 cm
Are you 1.75 – 1.85 meters? Then go for a birth ball of 75 cm

Do you want to make sure you're in the right place? You can check this in the following way:

  • Inflate the ball with the supplied pump
  • Sit on the ball and place your feet firmly on the floor.
  • Your hips should now be about 4 inches above your knees

Additional tips:

  • Do not inflate the ball to the maximum so that you can sink into the ball a little
  • Watch your attitude. Your back should be straight and relaxed, not arched or round
  • Try to tilt your pelvis slightly forward to find the right balance
  • Check that you are comfortable. The ball must provide sufficient support and allow you to keep your balance
  • Try out different sitting positions and experiment with the different positions you can adopt before giving birth. This way you can already discover what the possibilities are and what feels best for you
  • Always listen to your body. Do you feel discomfort, pain or tension? Then adjust your posture or stop using the ball for a while
